Tesla unveils new Model 3 Performance
The updated Model 3 Performance provides a 22% increase in sustained power and a 32% boost in peak power compared to the previous model. Its dual-motor system generates a total of 510 horsepower, allowing the car to reach a top speed of 262 km/h (163 mph) and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in just 3.1 seconds.
The vehicle’s range is estimated at 476 km (296 miles). Design enhancements have reduced the drag coefficient to 0.208 Cd. The new chassis delivers a performance-focused structure with special components that reduce weight and increase stiffness.
The updated Model 3 Performance includes adaptive dampers with hollow damper piston rods, multi-section stabilizer bars, and ultra-high-strength steel springs. The adaptive dampers come in three modes: Standard, Sport, and Track.
The Model 3 Performance features sportier bumpers, a new front splitter, a revised spoiler, and an aggressive diffuser. These modifications not only improve the vehicle’s appearance but also enhance aerodynamics, with Tesla stating a 5% reduction in drag and a 36% decrease in lift.
Inside, the car has updated sports seats with a deeper seating position, improved acoustic glass, and enhanced insulation to make the cabin quieter. Additionally, the performance model includes a unique carbon fiber trim and a 17-speaker sound system.
Tesla Model 3 Performance is open for orders in the United States, with deliveries expected to start in May or June. The base price for the new Model 3 Performance is $52,990.
